Frequently asked questions.

What is the service like?

All our services follow a historic, Christian order of worship featuring things like the reading of scripture, confession, communion, and The Lord's Prayer. Our traditional worship draws from a rich historical tradition that celebrates the mystery and mercy of God. The music is accompanied by our organ and choir. Our contemporary worship service praises God with modern worship songs and a child-friendly format. Services usually run for an hour or less.

How should I dress?

Feel free to dress in the way you are most comfortable. Jeans to business casual to shirt and tie are acceptable.

What if I have questions when I get there?

Prior to each service, greeters and volunteers are available near the entrance of the sanctuary. Our volunteers are easliy identified by their yellow lanyards. Please let them know you are visiting and they can help you with any questions you may have.

Where are you located?

We are tucked away in the Mount Prospect triangle neighborhood, just 2 blocks east of downtown Mount Prospect. Our address is 100 S. School Street, Mount Prospect.

Where do I park?

The church has a small parking lot on the south side of the building. Look for the “Guest Parking” area reserved just for you. We are also a neighborhood church so if there is no parking in the lot, there is plenty of street parking available. There are also additional parking spots at the school. Since we are a neighborhood church, feel free to walk or ride a bike.

I COME FROM A NON-CHRISTIAN OR NON-LUTHERAN BACKGROUND

Please come by and check out one of our worship celebrations. You will not be expected to say or do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable. Come to see what we’re all about and participate in as much or as little of the service as you feel comfortable. Just be sure to read our communion card found in the pews before participating in communion.

What about Handicap Accessibility?

The church is handicap accessible. We have Handicap parking near the north entrance on E. Busse Ave and also in the parking lot by the south (Main) entrance. We have an elevator to access the lower level.

What about my kids?

All children are welcome at services. We know having young children at church can be difficult, but we want them to know that they are just as much a part of the church as the grown-ups! To make worship easier, we have blue activity bags near the glass doors of the sanctuary. About midway through our 9:00 am worship service, we have a children’s message. We also have an unattended nursery in the lobby with a changing table and toys if needed. Our 55-minute worship is usually filled with the noise of children laughing, screaming, or singing and we like it that way. Following our 9:00 am worship, we have a fun and engaging Sunday School (called Crosswalk) from 9:15-10:15. Available between September and May.

KIDS TIME

At Saint Paul, we love having kids in worship. We also know that sometimes our younger ones need a little break. Children ages 2 years old through 2nd grade are invited to join us for Kids Time where they will hear an age-appropriate lesson and share in games and crafts. Our secure registration is necessary, so please check in at the kiosk near the welcome center where an usher will be happy to assist you. Parents can pick up their children immediately following the worship service in our fellowship hall (Luther Hall).
